Gewalt gegen Frauen ist ein alltägliches Phänomen, auch wenn sie nur selten öffentlich wird. Alina ist nach Deutschland gekommen, um Geld zu verdienen. Sie wusste, dass sie wahrscheinlich nur als Prostituierte wird arbeiten können, und kommt gut damit zurecht. Mit Vielem hat sie gerechnet, aber nicht damit, dass ein Bekannter ihres Bruders ihr nachstellt und - als sie ihn abweist - versucht, sie auf offener Straße zu töten. Eva verlässt ihren Freund, der sie in den Bauch tritt, als sie schwanger ist. Er verfolgt sie, schickt Morddrohungen. Siebzehn Mal hatte sie ihn vergeblich bei der Polizei angezeigt, als ihre Tochter sie tot in ihrer Wohnung findet. Faizah wird von ihrem deutschen Ehemann schwer misshandelt. Einmal gelingt es ihr, sich nach draußen zu retten. Er folgt ihr, prügelt weiter, würgt sie, bis Passanten ihn festhalten und die Polizei holen.
Wie gewinnt man nach einer Gewalterfahrung die Selbstachtung zurück, die Selbstbestimmung über das eigene Leben? Wie geht man damit um, dass die Polizei einen angekündigten Mord nicht ernst nimmt? Dass man einem Richter gegenübersteht, der auf dem rechten Auge blind ist? Was macht es mit den Betroffenen, die Täter wiedersehen zu müssen und sich bohrenden Fragen zur Tat zu stellen?
Christina Clemm nimmt uns mit auf eine Reise in die Gerichtssäle der Republik, an die Tatorte, in die Tatgeschehen. Es sind Geschichten, die man nicht mehr vergessen wird.
